PARAMUS -- The launch of Apple's iPad on Saturday morning carried the air of a high school pep rally as about 200 people lined up outside the company's store at Westfield Garden State Plaza.
Several dozen Apple employees, all dressed in royal blue T- shirts with the iPad logo, rushed out of the store just before the 9 a.m. opening and raced along the rows of waiting customers, high- fiving them and cheering. Many of those waiting in line spent their time tweeting and Facebooking their friends on Apple iPhones and Google Androids to offer up live updates from the scene.

NEW YORK - In a dramatic sign of escalating health problems stemming from the attacks on the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001, more than 1,700 cops and firefighters have filed lawsuits against the city claiming they were sickened by work at Ground Zero or the Fresh Kills landfill.
To handle the unprecedented legal overload, the city's Law Department set up a special division to tackle Sept. 11 claims and appointed attorney Kenneth Becker as chief of the World Trade Center unit.

Why we're watching him: Flashing brazen lyrical skill, he's mastered MCing as both a freestyler and a recording artist. He says, "Freestyling is how I hone my skills--freestyling and battling. If you can't do that, then I don't feel you're a real MC." He's lived up to the hype by nabbing first place in 2002's Mic Check Battle Philadelphia and second in the 2003 Blaze Freestyle Battle in Oakland, Calif. [Sharif Talib Lacey] released last year's well-received Invisible Empire, available at reef.gladiatorfilms.com. He's worked and recorded with a far-reaching range of area MCs, including Chief Kamachi, Adam 12, Kenneth Masters and Dave Ghetto, as well as producers Fel Sweetenberg and DJ Sat One. Of his adaptable lyrical style, he says, "Where I grew up at, it was if you rapped, the people ...
