Truancy citations issued to thousands of students who were simply late for class will be dismissed under new guidelines released by the presiding judge of the Los Angeles Juvenile Court.
Under rules released last week by Judge Michael Nash, the courts will dismiss the $250 tickets for students who can prove they were late or enroute to school at the time they were cited for violating the curfew law for youths.

MONTEREY PARK - Local foster youth advocates are expressing concern in response to a proposed order by Los Angeles County Juvenile Court Judge Michael Nash that would open juvenile dependency hearings to the public.
Approximately 40 people attended a protest on the steps of Edelman Children's Court in Monterey Park on Monday in opposition to the order. Statewide foster youth advocacy organization California Youth Connection organized the rally, which featured two youth speakers.
