When Army Spc. Michael D. Hauser was flown home to Buffalo in late January for a fundraiser to defray the cost of treatment for his severe war wounds, Margaret and Raymond Hauser had to do the talking for their brain-damaged son.
Fast-forward eight months. As Hauser, 24, boarded a single- engine plane Tuesday bound for Johnstown, Pa., where he is expected to undergo at least another year of therapy, it was obvious that he is making an amazing recovery from the suicide bombing in Iraq that nearly killed him in November 2007.

The Moon Area High School bookkeeper accused of skimming $29,310.20 from student club accounts was the only person with direct access to the missing money, her supervisor said Tuesday.
Testifying at a preliminary hearing before District Judge Mary Murray, high school Principal Michael Hauser said only secretary- bookkeeper Audrey E. Quel had access to the money during the time it disappeared.
