The Brookline, Vt., artist fuses 5-cent coins together with 35,000 welds and shapes the metal fabric into the surface of a couch. All that coinage is supported by a stainlesssteel truss system - 350 feet of what [Johnny Swing] refers to as "stiffing" rods. The elaborate substructure looks something like a suspension bridge, and the end result is a sort of heavy metal fainting couch. The Department of Commerce (the ``Department'') is currently conducting a new shipper review (``NSR'') of the antidumping duty order on wooden bedroom furniture (``WBF'') from the People's Republic of China (``PRC'') for the period of January 1, 2011, through June 30, 2011. As discussed below, we preliminarily determine that the producer and exporter Marvin Furniture (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (``Marvin Furniture'') did not satisfy the regulatory requirements to request an NSR; therefore, we are preliminarily rescinding this NSR. Costly problems with product quality from foreign suppliers, the low value of the US dollar versus other currencies, long shipping delays, increasing logistics costs, inventory carrying costs, and the difficulty of working with foreign suppliers are combining to cause some manufacturers to move parts and components sourcing back to northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan. Late in 2008, Hoeppner assembled a team of supply chain professionals to reassess the purchase of plastic and metal parts for Sauder's RTA furniture manufacturing business.
