Greene County Commission Chair Pam Snyder met with 17 Waynesburg University Stover Scholars to discuss her path into politics and the importance of cooperation in governance. Snyder, who has been a Greene County Commissioner since 2008, urged the undergraduate students from a range of university disciplines to take their educations seriously and figure out how to make society better for future generations.

A rape victim's Facebook musings were not admissible as part of her accused attacker's defense, the Missouri Court of Appeals Southern District ruled. Jacob Montgomery Corwin was convicted in Greene County of attempted forcible rape. A woman he'd met at a bar one night in May 2006 said he'd tried to force her to have sex with him in his dorm room, and that she had resisted. After escaping, the victim called the police and was taken to the hospital by some friends. She had bruises on her legs and an injured thumb.

SUGARCREEK TWP., Greene County -- The Sugarcreek Twp. Trustees met in special session last week to approve an agreement with the Greene County engineer and the Greene County Board of Commissioners to hire an engineering and design consulting firm for the Clyo Road Phase II project. ME Companies of Westerville was awarded a $125,000 contract for the engineering and design of the Ohio Public Works Commission Project. It will redesign both the old and new sections of the road, running from Wilmington Pike to Possum Run Road, according to township administrator Barry Tiffany.

When the four women on the U.S. biathlon team compete today at the Winter Games in Vancouver, Falmouth resident Paul Greene will be there to cheer them on. Greene - a former sportscaster who became a lawyer a few years ago - has never met Haley Johnson, Lanny Barnes, Laura Spector and Sara Studebaker.
