CHESAPEAKE - , 77, of the 4100 block of Leyte Ave., passed away Jan. 30, 2007. Joseph was born April 26, 1929, to the late William and Augusta Streat in Halifax, Va. He completed his secondary school training in Halifax before pursuing a career in the military. He also received a B.S. degree in automotive mechanics from Norfolk State University. Joseph was a member of the Dome of Canaan Baptist Church in Chesapeake where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He retired from the U.S. Navy after 30 years of service as a chief petty officer. He later retired from Merchants Tire Center after 10 years of service. He was predeceased by his wife, Rosa E. Streat.
