Ashley Crumpler, of Niagara Falls, has been awarded the Ruth and William O. Sass Nursing Scholarship for 2011-2012. Named in honor of Dr. and Mrs. William O. Sass, the scholarship is awarded annually to one or more qualified applicants pursuing a course of study leading to a baccalaureate degree in nursing. It is funded through an endowment in their names at the Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center Foundation. Crumpler is a nursing student at D'Youville College.

LONG BEACH -- It's rehabilitation with a twist as the Memorial Medical Center Foundation hosts the Second Annual WiiHAB Championship Thursday.
Competitors, made up of doctors, patients and community members will be divided into teams that will compete on Nintendo Wii stations at tennis, golf and bowling. The single-elimination tournament will continue to a final elimination with the top two scoring teams competing for the big win.

Old Ranch Country Club was the venue for the Children's Memorial Hospital Auxiliary's 65th annual installation of officers and awards luncheon on June 15.
There were 72 attendees on hand for the presentation of a $122,850 check for Miller's Children's Hospital. Memorial Medical Center Foundation President Jim Normandin accepted the check with appreciation. Mary Alice Braly, who received her 11 th diamond addition, was among the 40 members who received new pins or jewel enhancements for their service.

The "Dancing For Our Stars" second annual gala of the Memorial Medical Center Foundation was a celestial success that raised more than $250,000 net.

SPRINGFIELD - It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas at the Illinois State Fairgrounds where the Memorial Medical Center Foundation hosts its 15th annual Festival of Trees through Nov. 28.
More than 30,000 people are expected to attend the event held to raise money for the hospital.

Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center has awarded 2009 Junior Volunteer Scholarships to Kathryn Spavento and Marc Toth. The scholarships are funded by the Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center Foundation and Auxiliary. Spavento, a 2009 graduate of Lewiston- Porter High School, will enroll as a biology major this fall at Niagara University. She was a junior volunteer at Memorial for four years and was credited with 209 hours of service during those summers.
Toth, a 2009 graduate of Starpoint High School, will enroll as a premedical student at Canisius College. He was a junior volunteer for two summers and logged 175 hours of service.

Creedence Clearwater Revisited will take center stage at the Downey Regional Medical Center Foundation's annual Charter Ball, being held Oct. 30 at the Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort and Spa.
The Memorial Trust Foundation is the medical center's fundraising branch. Proceeds from the Charter Ball will benefit the DRMC Capital Campaign/Patient Care Tower.

LONG BEACH - Friends and colleagues remember Donald C. Carner as a visionary in the world of hospital administration.
Carner was selected as the first administrator of Long Beach's Seaside Hospital in 1955, and was instrumental in the transformation of Seaside into Long Beach Memorial Medical Center, said former colleague Donna Reckseen, president emerita of Memorial Medical Center Foundation.
