These are turbulent times for the city-owned Memorial Health System. A citizens? commission is weighing whether the system should be sold or reorganized, CEO Dr. Larry McEvoy is introducing an integrated-care model that promises deep changes in how the system is run and doctors provide care, and the nation's health care laws are being overhauled. Cary Blanchette walked into this storm March 15 as the new executive director of the Memorial Health System Foundation. His mission, no matter what else is going on, is to persuade donors to give money to improve care at the hospital.

SUNNYSIDE -- The annual Mr. Sunnyside High School pageant will be Saturday. The event, which pits 12 boys against each other for the crown, is a fundraiser for the Memorial Foundation, a nonprofit group that supports children's health care and education at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital and Children's Village.
