SALT LAKE CITY -- Two men were taken to jail after an attempted drug sale/robbery ended with one of the men pulling a gun and the sport utility vehicle in which they were riding being rolled, police said.

Police arrested one man after they say he slashed the neck of another man in Salt Lake City's Washington Square Monday night.
A 28-year-old man who has an extensive history for drug and violence-related arrests approached a group of people who commonly hang out at the square and asked for change at around 8:30 p.m., Salt Lake City Police Lt. Melody Gray said.

VIRGINIA BEACH - Ima Jean Gray Herring, 72, died Dec. 16, 2007, in a Virginia Beach medical facility. Mrs. Herring was born in Dare County, North Carolina and was a bank manager. She was the daughter of the late Van Buren and Betty Lee Etheridge Gray.
Mrs. Herring is survived by a daughter, Melody Baldwin and husband James of Virginia Beach; a sister, Gilda Gray Hosteller of Monrovia, Calif.; two brothers, Van Buren Gray Jr. of Ivor, Va. and Phillip Maynard Gray of Wanchese, N.C.; three grandchildren, Jennifer Lane Torbert, James Matthew Baldwin and Robert Scott Baldwin; and one great-grandchild, Haley Noriko Torbert, all of Virginia Beach.

SALT LAKE CITY -- An armed robbery suspect led police on a high- speed chase through West Valley and Salt Lake, hitting two cars and a building in the process.
A 29-year-old woman wanted on an aggravated robbery warrant was being monitored by unmarked police cars, and when she attempted to leave, cops initiated a traffic stop near 2200 South Redwood Rd. But Dawn Levi, along with a passenger who is a parole fugitive, took off and led cops to 1400 S. State, where she crashed into a vehicle, said Salt Lake Police Lt. Melody Gray.

Two women were taken to the hospital after they were hit while riding their bicycles in separate incidents Monday.
A vehicle was exiting a parking lot near 600 South and 200 West around 3 p.m. and hit a biker who was riding on the sidewalk. She was not wearing a helmet. She was taken to LDS Hospital, where she was listed in serious condition, according to Salt Lake City Police Lt. Melody Gray.

The spirit of this weekend's LDS general conference did not extend to the nearby grave site of Brigham Young, where police say two men jumped a fence and ripped a bronze Book of Mormon from the church leader's hands Sunday.
A witness saw the men kicking and breaking off part of the statue of Young, seated on a bench in the Mormon Pioneer Memorial Monument park at 140 E. First Ave., about 3:45 p.m., said Salt Lake Police Lt. Melody Gray.
