David Beckham lifted a trophy in what could be his final game for the Galaxy, an exhibition road victory over Australian A-League team Melbourne Victory on penalty shots Tuesday. Beckham was given the man of the match award after the Galaxy's 4- 3 shootout win following a 2-2 draw. His contract ended with the Galaxy's season and he hasn't yet said where he will play next year. He is thought to be weighing offers to remain with the Galaxy or to join the French club Paris Saint-Germain.

• Serena Tops Polish Teen in Opener

MELBOURNE, Australia - Serena Williams started the defense of her Australian Open title with a dominating 6-2, 6-1 victory early today over Polish teenager Urszula Radwanska. Williams also only lost three games in her previous match at Melbourne Park: a 6-0, 6-3 victory over now No. 2-ranked Dinara Safina in last year's final.

Alexandr Dolgopolov stopped Soderling's eight-match winning streak with a 1-6, 6-3, 6-1, 4-6, 6-2 victory Monday, reaching the quarterfinals in his first trip to Melbourne Park.
