NORFOLK - , 74, passed away April 14, 2010. Mrs. Malpaya was born in the Philippines Dec. 18, 1935, a daughter of Maria Idos and Victor Mejia. She was a member of Holy Angels Church in Portsmouth and St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church in Virginia Beach.
Survivors are her husband, Teofilo D. Malpaya; daughters, Dolores M. Malpaya, Susan M. Canave, Maria Teresita M. Hernandez, Marites M. Morales; sons, Francisco M. Malpaya, Ferdinand M. Malpaya, Joseph M. Malpaya, and Joel M. George Dudley Smith, 83, passed away April 21, 2007 at Southside Regional Medical Center. He was born in Allegheny County, Pa., to the late Roy and Dorothy Chiarky Smith. He attended Colonial Heights Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his wife Mary Martha Smith.

Born in Paranaque, M.M., Philippines on April 24, 1948, she graduated in nursing course at St. Catherine's General Hospital School of Nursing and finished her BSN at Manila Central University. She worked at Portsmouth Naval Hospital NICU Department for 15 years. She was a member of St. Marks Catholic Church, Philippine Nurses Association of Tidewater and Dancerama Inc.
