Two important points need to be made for the public's knowledge and safety. First, they referred to the person who conducts an ultrasound examination as a "technician." The correct term is actually diagnostic medical sonographer, or sonographer for short. In medicine, a technician is someone who simply operates medical equipment. Sonographers perform a much higher skill, responsibility and knowledge level.
