Tuesday's episode The McKinley High School glee club, the high- strung New Directions, is preparing to compete in the regionals against a field that includes three-time champion Vocal Adrenaline. Glee club director and Spanish teacher Will Schuester (Matthew Morrison) tells his charges, "This is the big leagues. If we don't place in the regionals, the glee club is over. The show's premise Will's goal is to save the glee club from obscurity, but it's not an easy task. The group's true talents are Rachel Berry (Lea Michele), who is convinced that MySpace and show choir are her tickets to fame, and Finn Hudson (Cory Monteith), the popular and good-looking quarterback who must protect his reputation from the likes of football teammate Puck (Mark Salling).

Online platform provides mentoring, behavior tracking, and attendance tools that will aid in managing successful internship experiences BURLINGTON, Mass., Sept. 22 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- McKinley Technology High School has incorporated it's learning (www.itslearning.net), an individualized learning platform for K-12 and higher education, into its internship program to provide the framework for increased organization, program structure, and accountability measures. The Washington, D.C.-based high school, which focuses heavily on STEM curricula for its grade 9-12 students, will predominantly use the platform's mentoring, behavior tracking and attendance features throughout the internship process.

Buffalo students helped paint McKinley mural The July 28 News featured the photo, "New Vista on Olmsted: McKinley High School mural." While it is wonderful to see the beautification of our city, especially from the talents of nationally recognized muralist Augustina Droze, one important aspect of this project was overlooked.

The Redlands Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints recently honored five teachers at the stake's annual Teachers of Excellence reception. The honored teachers were Heidi Cherry of Crafton Elementary School, Christopher Hunt of Beattie Middle School, Ken McGrath of Citrus Valley High School, Debbie Mineo of McKinley Elementary School and Elizabeth Westbrook of Victoria Elementary School.

A new mural that prominently features familiar landscapes from each of Buffalo's seven Olmsted parks will be unveiled during a dedication ceremony at 10:30 a.m. at the retaining wall behind McKinley High School, 1500 Elmwood Ave. The mural, painted by Los Angeles-based artist Augustina Droze, is the result of a partnership among the Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy, the Buffalo Parks Department, the Buffalo Arts Commission, the Buffalo Public Schools and Buffalo State College. The project, which is part of the Jesse Kregal Pathway Improvement Project, was funded through the New York Power Authority and the Niagara River Greenway Commission. WOOSTER -- Eugene R. Beem, 90, of Wooster, passed away Monday, Feb. 21, 2011, at West View Manor Nursing Home. He was born Feb. 25, 1920, in Canton, the son of Hollis S. and Ethel Mae Love Beem, and graduated from Canton McKinley High School, The College of Wooster and The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He served in the U.S. Army for four years during WWII.

A nearly finished, 210-foot-long mural that pays homage to Frederick Law Olmsted is now adorning a once graffiti-scarred retaining wall behind McKinley High School. Visible from the Scajaquada Expressway, the painting of colorful landscapes and landmarks from Buffalo parks is being created by Los Angeles-based muralist Augustina Droze, who was picked by a panel of judges over some Buffalo finalists to design the project that originated with the Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy.
