A new law that gives ABC-licensed restaurants the option of allowing customers to bring their own wine takes effect next week. The wine corkage law, which takes effect July 1, permits but does not require restaurants to allow outside wine, so each licensed restaurant may decide its own policy. Restaurants also may charge a corkage fee; no minimum or maximum price is set for the fee.

Proposed regulations under Section 423 provide the requirements that must be satisfied in order for a plan to meet the definition of an employee stock purchase plan. Section 423 also addresses the individual income tax treatment of stock acquired pursuant to an option granted under an employee stock purchase plan.
