DALLAS, May 16, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- With the weather warming up across the country and the school year drawing to a close, children of all ages are ready to jump into the pool. AT&T* joins forces with USA Swimming's Foundation to encourage parents to teach their children water safety through the "Make a Splash" campaign.
As a reward for young swimmers who have completed water safety training, AT&T launched a voicemail campaign as a part of USA Swimming's "Make a Splash" initiative. Parents of children who have completed swimming programs can text SPLASH to 56418** to receive an immediate call back. When the parent answers, a message prompts them to hand the phone to their new swimmer to hear a recorded congratulatory message from U.S. Olympic gold medalist Matt Grevers.

BLISTERING START
The pool record and Missouri Grand Prix record for the men's 100- meter freestyle lasted about five minutes during last night's preliminary round at the Mizzou Aquatics Center. Two heats after Cesar Cielo set the mark in 49.07 seconds, Matt Grevers sank the short-lived record with a personal-best time of 48.59 seconds. Simon Burnett had established the previous record at last year's inaugural Missouri Grand Prix, winning the event in 49.66. Grevers, a 22-year- old former standout at Northwestern, scorched his previous best time by more than a second in earning the top seed in today's finals. "It's been one of the better nights of my career I'd have to say," said Grevers, who swims for Tucson Ford Dealers Aquatics. Grevers then finished second to former world-record hold...

We think about Scott Winkler. Scott didn't spend his whole life training to become an elite athlete, but athletic competition helped give Scott his life back. Scott was an Army specialist serving in Iraq when an accident cost him the use of his legs. He found healing in the Wounded Warrior Project, in his work to mentor young people, and in wheelchair sports. Last month, a magnificent throw earned Scott an American record and a spot on the U.S. Paralympic team.
