LOS ANGELES (AP) - A sequel has been greenlit for Matt Giraud on "American Idol. The 23-year-old piano player from Kalamazoo, Mich., who crooned Bryan Adam's "Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman?" from "Don Juan DeMarco" for his movie song performance Tuesday, received the fewest number of viewer votes Wednesday on the popular Fox singing competition. However, the judges decided to use their one-time power to save him from elimination.
While seven finalists remain on Fox's "American Idol" after Matt Giraud was saved on Wednesday night, this still looks to be a battle between Milwaukee's Danny Gokey and glitzy rocker Adam Lambert. The saving of Giraud, 23, from Kalamazoo, Mich., was the first use of a new rule allowing the judges to overturn the week's vote after the finalist again sings the song he had performed the night before.
BURBANK, Calif. - In a small, unadorned studio far removed from cameras, spotlights and songs ending with an instant review, the top 10 "American Idol" finalists are getting ready for a nationwide tour. They're working on the intricacies of a group performance of "Don't Stop Believin'," with Matt Giraud and Scott MacIntyre singing and playing at dual pianos and the other eight, slouching comfortably on leather couches, adding their voices from the sidelines.
The Top 10 performers from America's top show gave audiences on Saturday an amazing live version of what they did on television for months. The favorites from the megahit Fox show "American Idol" came to Mellon Arena, Uptown, to perform several songs each for a packed crowd. The performers on the "American Idols Live Tour 2009" were the winner Kris Allen, who gave the finale performance, along with the other nine: Adam Lambert, Allison Iraheta, Anoop Desai, Danny Gokey, Lil Rounds, Matt Giraud, Megan Joy, Michael Sarver and Scott MacIntyre. The hard-rocking Lambert seemed to earn the loudest applause.
