A former Colorado Springs School District 11 boss, who may be best known for his reluctance to call a snow day, died early Saturday morning in Alaska. Kenneth Burnley, who led D-11 from 1987 to 2000, suffered complications from double knee surgery, said Catherine Esary, spokeswoman for the Matanuska-Susitna Borough School District, where Burnley was superintendent. He was 69.
