JACKSON - A state legislator wants to restore Colonel Reb as the University of Mississippi mascot.
State Rep. Mark DuVall, D-Mantachie, has filed legislation that would force the university to use the icon as its team mascot. His bill also would require the Ole Miss band to play "Dixie" and "From Dixie with Love" during football and basketball games.

Kristie Wolfe, the principal at Father Augustine Tolton Regional Catholic High School, said she thought the mascot was appropriate for a number of reasons.
