A man wanted for questioning in the slaying of a Lexington, Ky., dermatologist was arrested Wednesday by U.S. Marshals in Logan County.
Marty Roe, 63, is in the Logan County Jail, awaiting extradition to Kentucky.

Two seasons ago, coach Marty Simmons and his staff noticed a freshman at John A. Logan College they wanted to keep their eye on. Only problem was, they weren't the only ones watching Kenny Harris.
Now, two off-seasons later, Harris chose Simmons and company over those other suitors, signing to play men's basketball for the University of Evansville this coming season.

From staff reports Eight coaches and one media member will be honored as 2009 inductees into the Connecticut High School Coaches Association Hall of Fame at its 33rd annual ceremony on Nov. 19 at the Aqua Turf in Southington at 7 p.m.
Coaches Paul Davis, Bill Wallach, Marty Roos, Charlie Bentley, Mark Logan, Ellen Mahoney, Lou Marinelli and Gilbert Varjas, and media member Ken Lipshez will be honored.

NORFOLK - James Leroy "Red" Collins of the 600 block of E. Princess Anne Road, passed away Dec. 23, 2007, after a long illness. Prior to his illness, he attended Mission of Truth Outreach Center. He retired from the City of Norfolk after 21 years.
He is survived by a devoted wife, Bettie Logan Collins; three children, Angela Little (Curtis), Brenda Hunter (Tommy) and Tonia Blount; six stepchildren, Orian Toxey (Marty), Barbara Holmes, Trina Gordon (Bruce), Wanda Hurst (John), Crystal Patino and William Logan; one sister, Clarice Bryant; one brother, Johnnie Collins; and a host of grandchildren, great- grandchildren, nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

The most nerve-wracking part of the softball postseason begins today when the regional semifinals get underway around the state. There is little room for error in the single-elimination format, which comes on the heels of last weeks double-elimination sectional tournaments. The regional finals will take place a week later on May 19 because the states annual standardized testing begins Monday. (See Page 2B for regional semifinal pairings and schedule.)
