BLOOMINGTON - Cali, the young California sea lion who came to Miller Park Zoo less than two months ago, has died, zoo officials announced Monday.
Cali arrived at the zoo April 8 as part of the Species Survival Plan, designed to build up the captive population of animals. Cali, about 1 year old, had been stranded as a pup and was rehabilitated at the Marine Mammal Center in Sausalito, Calif., before coming to Bloomington.

WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Two humpback whales that made a 90- mile river journey from San Francisco to the outskirts of Sacramento have injuries that appear to have come from a propeller, marine experts said Wednesday.
The condition of the whales, believed to be a mother and her calf, was diagnosed by researchers from the Marine Mammal Center in Sausalito using photos taken Wednesday in the Port of Sacramento and enlarged on computer screens.
