ENGLEWOOD - With almost every free-agent signing the Broncos made during the offseason, the description of "high character" was attached. In came John Lynch, Champ Bailey, Marco Coleman, Raylee Johnson and Luther Elliss to play with team leaders Rod Smith and Al Wilson. Out went Daryl Gardener and Deltha O'Neal, who caused their share of distractions.
A three-part series following the development of a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design project will begin Tuesday. The Portland Development Commission and the Cascadia Region Green Building Council will present Integrated Design to Integrated Development: Filling the Gaps, which will follow a development from the perspectives of a developer, banker, lawyer, contractor, leasing agent, architect and sustainability consultant. Speakers will include Jeana Wooley of Marco Development LLC, Dan Weldon of Umpqua Bank, Howard Carsman of Bullivant/Houser/Bailey PC, Aaron Harmon of Ball Janik LLP, Peter Andrews of Melvin Mark Brokerage Co., Chuck Halling of Walsh Construction, Leslie Cliffe of BOORA Architects, and Chris Forney of Brightworks.
The Denver Broncos added two more veteran defensive players Monday, agreeing to terms with safety John Lynch and defensive tackle Luther Elliss, both former Pro Bowlers. The Broncos have changed much of their defense since being picked apart by Indianapolis' offense in a playoff loss last season. Several free agent defensive players have departed, but they have acquired five veterans: Lynch, Elliss, and ends Raylee Johnson and Marco Coleman through free agency and cornerback Champ Bailey via trade.

The majority partner of the company running the D.C. Lottery had boasted on its corporate website of general contracting experience from federal jobs it did not perform for government clients who had never heard of it, according to a review by The Washington Times. The claims, which make up virtually the entire construction- services profile posted on the website of Veterans Services Corp. (VSC), raise questions about the background and capability of the firm, which has a 51 percent interest in a joint venture with international gaming giant Intralot.
