  • A study was conducted to determine whether two differentiated manufacturers will establish a distribution system with one or several retailers. A model stating that the potential for foreclosure indicates a symmetry between a single-dealer distribution and multidealer distribution systems wherein the retailers realize profits in both systems. Results showed that manufacturers would rather choose a single-dealer distribution than a retailer with different exclusive dealers.
