The Illinois Legislature has made some changes effective Jan. 1, on how a mobile/manufactured home is taxed. It used to be that all mobile/manufactured homes were taxed under the Mobile Home Local Services Tax Act. What this means is your home was taxed at a much lower cost per square foot of area, with that cost decreasing as your mobile/manufactured home aged, and not taxed under the property tax code as "real property.
