Penn Manor High School will hold its 2012 commencement at 7 p.m. June 5 at Franklin & Marshall College's Alumni Sports Fitness Center. Baccalaureate will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Manor Church.
B OB ANDERSON moved into when he was 15 years old and still lives in the neighborhood today. Together, Anderson, 66, and his wife, Millie , have called the Portsmouth community home since they purchased their own house there in 1986.
RINGWOOD -- Ringwood Manor will remain closed until late May as the state continues to inventory and reorganize the interior of the building after the March 3 theft of valuable paintings and artifacts. The theft stunned community members who -- despite the riches inside the 51-room former country estate -- never thought the bucolic manor would be a criminal target. They wonder how the thief or thieves managed to evade an alarm system and police patrols and steal part of New Jersey's history. And they question whether other historic sites are safe.
With a Sunday deadline looming, case workers and state officials scrambled this week to find new homes for 27 residents being displaced from Monticello Manor assisted living facility in Roanoke. After documenting repeated violations during the past 15 months at Monticello, the Virginia Department of Social Services denied a license for the facility to remain open. Regulators said Monticello, which is geared toward low-income residents with mental illnesses, has until Sunday to cease operations.
Graduation for members of the Class of 2011 at Penn Manor High School will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 7, at Franklin & Marshall College's Alumni Sports & Fitness Center. Candidates for graduation are:
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- The University of Maine-Presque Isle took a 33-30 lead with 12:18 left in the second half and never trailed the rest of the way en route to a 57-48 women's basketball victory over Pine Manor Saturday. Emily Pelletier paced 1-5 UMPI with 14 points while Rashell Saucier chipped in with 13 points and 13 rebounds. Olivia McNally added 12 points and Emily Moore had nine points and eight assists.
Graduation at Penn Manor High School will be held at 7 p.m. June 9 at Biemesderfer Stadium, Millersville University, weather permitting. In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held in the Penn Manor High School gymnasium.
