Founded in 1998 with a mission to provide cost-effective security services by actively involving the client, SMC provides the planning and design of security programs, project management, consulting, software sales and customization support to its customers. While a full roster of services offered by SMC is far too long to list, it includes security systems design, vulnerability assessment, risk analysis, threat assessment, security department evaluation, security systems evaluation, policy and procedure development, as well as terrorism and bioterrorism prevention.
Accounting Brian M. Davis has started ClearView Consulting LLC, a Baltimore- based CPA and management consulting firm whose services include risk management consulting, general accounting, tax compliance and consulting, and supplier contract reviews. Davis, the managing director and CEO, began his career with a "big four" accounting firm. For the last 12 years he worked at a CPA and management consulting firm, most recently as the managing director of its consulting practice. Davis has an accounting degree from Towson University. He is a board member of the Baltimore chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors and an executive board member of Matt Birk's HIKE Foundation.
The purpose of this paper is to suggest an approach to modifying firm strategy and tactics to cope with the demands of the current economic downturn and resulting challenges to profitability and growth. The approach is, broadly, becoming a focused differentiator, adopting Hersey's Situational leadership Model and adopting a Lean Management philosophy. The target audience for this paper is Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs) - frequently privately held and often with fewer than 100 employees.
