RIVERSIDE -- A recent report on compliance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act suggests that Mad River Local Schools is among the top districts in Montgomery County at educating students with disabilities.
The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, or IDEA, was reauthorized in 2004 to require that school districts provide a free and appropriate public education to children with disabilities, that each child gets an individual education program, and that children with disabilities be educated with children who are not disabled.

RIVERSIDE -- The Mad River Local School District this week launched a new alternative learning program aimed at helping some at- risk Stebbins High School students get back on track to graduate with their peers.
Thirteen students, mostly seniors, will participate in the semester-long pilot program that started Wednesday, Jan. 13, after an orientation for the students and their parents.

Pam Castleberry, a physical education teacher for the Mad River Local School District, was appointed a representative to the Midwest district of the Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance, the professional organization for physical education, health and dance teachers working with students from preschool to college.
I'm the adapted physical education chairwoman for the state organization, but this is my first appointment to the Midwest district," said Castleberry, who was appointed by the executive committee of the Ohio Association for Health Physical Education, Recreation and Dance.
