More than 16 million attempted cyber attacks are aimed at Louisiana's government databases each year and one got through in September, compromising personal information and Social Security numbers of more than 56,000 emergency medical technicians and EMT certification students.
While there is no evidence that hackers used the information, those affected were notified and new security systems are now in place, said Lisa Faust, director of communications with the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals.
