Lemay Fire Protection District is suing St. Louis County for its share of tax revenue from the new River City Casino.
The Lemay FPD claims that it should get part of the Public Safety Tax from the casino for providing fire, safety and EMS services to patrons and workers on the boat in South St. Louis County. The statute governing the Public Safety Tax states the "home dock city or county shall receive 10 percent of the adjusted gross receipts tax collections ... for use in providing services necessary for the safety of the public visiting an excursion gambling boat.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 16, at Kutis South County Chapel, 5255 Lemay Ferry Road in St. Louis, with interment to follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.

LEWISTON - of Lewiston passed away on Saturday, March 28, after a brief illness. She was a resident of Harpswell for most of her life and moved to Lewiston in recent years to be closer to family.
She was born in Harpswell, on May 30, 1920, to Grace and Ludger LeMay. She was educated in the Harpswell and Lewiston school systems. She married Daniel McManus, the love of her life, on Dec. 4, 1937. He passed away on Aug. 17, 1989.
