Cardinals 4, Reds 2 ST. LOUIS - The St. Louis Cardinals handled the Cincinnati Reds again Sunday. Small consolation for a team that's seven games back in the National League Central because they can't beat anybody else in the division.
The Christian Fellowship basketball teams lost to North County last night in St. Louis. The CFS girls lost 38-16, and the boys were defeated 60-36. In the girls game, Sarah Walters scored eight points and blocked three shots and Hannah Stephens finished with five rebounds and three blocks. In the boys game, Tyler Lichtenberg led CFS with 19 points and Matt Easton and Jordan Acock added six each.
ST. LOUIS - More than 1,000 all-session tickets have become available for the NCAA Tournament's Midwest Regional at the Edward Jones Dome, the Missouri Valley Conference announced Wednesday. The regional games will be Friday and Sunday. Butler and Florida play at 6:10 p.m. Friday, followed by UNLV and Oregon.
WASHINGTON | Chien-Ming Wang (4-3) allowed one run and four hits in six innings and drove in a run with his first career hit on Saturday to help Washington stall Atlanta's wildcard run. Atlanta lost for the 16th time in 26 games and is two games ahead of St. Louis for the NL wildcard with four games left.
You might expect Sawin Millett, a self-described baseball addict and lifelong Mainer, to be a diehard Red Sox fan. Yet truth be told, since the 1946 World Series, when St. Louis beat Boston four games to three, he's loved the Cardinals.

The loss dropped St. Louis 61/2 games behind Cincinnati in the NL Central. The Reds played later at Milwaukee.
ST. LOUIS (AP) - Chris Carpenter refused to allow the St. Louis Cardinals' fast-dwindling NL Central lead to clutter his mind. The 2005 Cy Young Award winner just tried to pitch his game. Carpenter threw a four-hitter and Ronnie Belliard had three hits and two RBIs in his biggest game since joining the Cardinals at the trade deadline, helping them stop a three-game skid with a 5-0 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday night.
Leave it to Harry Caray to pique the interest of an impressionable youth in Princeton, Ind. Dave Niehaus, who received the Ford C. Frick Award in 2008 for major contributions to baseball, grew up listening to Caray broadcast St. Louis Cardinals games.
