Sometimes in my more fanciful moments when I think about the biblical view of the world, it occurs to me that in the process of Creation the best qualities were given to the animals, who came first.
Then whatever was left over was tossed like a bone to humanity, which would explain much of the hubris and horror that has existed since mankind arrived on the scene. It also makes me wonder if God, still tired from all his creating, called in a little reinforcement from his favorite, soon-to-be fallen angel Lucifer to help fashion that first human.

HARRISBURG -- The state Senate is expected to give final approval today to legislation banning so-called "bath salts," synthetic marijuana and the hallucinogenic plant known as salvia divinorum.
Not to be confused with the pricey soaks found at the mall, these bath salts resemble baking soda and are sold at convenience stores, head shops and over the Internet. Bath salts can be smoked, injected or snorted. They mimic the effects of methamphetamines and cocaine and can cause strong hallucinations. They can cause heart palpitations, loss of appetite and sleep deprivation, according to drug counselors and medical experts. The drug has long been popular in Europe, but has become more common in the United States among those looking for a cheap high.

In 1986, my grandmother knew her physical death was imminent. Her kidneys had stopped functioning. She had a fever, loss of appetite and said she was "ready to go." I told her she wasn't going anywhere, as if I could will it. She was dying in her room at home with me, my husband and my two children.
One morning, I sat on her bed and she asked me to keep her wedding rings after she died. I said, "I have my own wedding rings, what would I do with another set?" She pragmatically replied, "Papa would not want them cremated with me." Then tearfully, she said, "Promise me you will keep them, maybe you will want them someday." Unconvincingly, I promised.

If zinc is taken in excess it can cause damage. Studies have stiown that zinc in excess binds with copper causing the copper to deplete which in turn causes the neurologic disease. In the cases studied all patients used an excessive amount of adhesive and a lot of it was swallowed throughout the day. The manufacturer recommends that a tube should last three to ten weeks and anything less than th...
