Dear Annie: My son, "Terry," is 30 and newly divorced with two sons. My husband and I have been helping him, since he had a hard time finding a job. He lived with us for three months. My husband (his stepfather) bought him a car and insurance so he could get to work and be able to pick up his boys.
In April, Terry moved into an apartment. We paid the security deposit and first month's rent. He found a job in June, but with child-support payments, he still had a hard time with the rent, so we continued to help him through the summer.

Short-term rental showdown
I sure hope the "short-term rental" market will pay its fair share of lodger's taxes in order to help pay for and promote our beautiful new convention center here in Santa Fe-especially in light of all our new convention and meeting facility competition coming from our neighbors to the north. We need all the help we can get to market our wonderful facility and make it a true success.

It's no secret she's encountered much criticism over the past six months, but as Gayle usually does, she has persevered throughout the process. It hasn't been easy.
When the dust settled and town auditors examined lodger's tax revenues and the Chamber's use of the funds (granted them to increase tourism) the results of the town's three-year review showed that nothing unethical or illegal has occurred regarding the use of the revenues.
