FRA is revising the existing regulations containing Railroad . The revisions update, consolidate, and clarify the existing regulations. The final rule incorporates existing industry and engineering best practices related to locomotives and locomotive electronics. This includes the development of a safety analysis for new locomotive electronic systems. FRA believes this final rule will modernize and improve its safety regulatory program related to locomotives. There are some very exciting additions coming to the Museum of the Coal Industry in Lynnville within the next year, said an enthusiastic Aja Mason, the primary operator of the museum.
First on the list is Tinker Bell, a 1940 locomotive owned by Peabody Coal, which was in use moving empty freight cars for Peabody at the Yankeetown Dock until 1999. Surviving so long in working condition, and not being cut up for scrap, are two great accomplishments for a small locomotive engine of that age.
