The Memphis Light, Gas and Water Division board voted Thursday to loosen its residency rule for new employees, who will be able to live anywhere in Shelby County, not restricted to the city limits.
Memphis voters approved the same rule for city workers in a referendum last month .

LOS ANGELES - Microsoft Corp. co-founder Bill Gates announced a cross-platform gaming service that integrates games played on cell phones, Xbox 360 consoles and the upcoming Windows Vista operating system.
The "Live Anywhere" service will be available as part of Windows Vista, Microsoft's next-generation PC operating system. The consumer version is scheduled for release early next year.

If you live anywhere near Smith Mountain Lake, chances are more than good that you've heard of wakeboarding -- probably even done it once or twice -- or at least seen someone on the lake doing it.Most likely you're aware that there are wakeboarding competitions. What you may not know is what to look for while viewing a tournament as a spectator now that the sport has evolved so much in display of sophistication, style and talent.
About 30 years ago, wakeboarding began to grow in popularity along with skiboarding, which morphed into snowboarding. Throw in a boat, a rope and some water, and you have a bona fide sport that has world-wide attention today.
