Black Spectrum Theatre is a member of the CoaUtion of Theatres of Color. The CoaUtion was created to deal with the disparity of funding for theaters of color with more than 25-year histories to challenge the city, the state and the federal government, with budget of 40 billion, 350 billion and a trillion dollars a year, respectively, to do better by its theaters of color. Think about it! On a beautiful afternoon, more than 50 members of the Long Beach branch of the American Association of University Women gathered Sept. 10 for an elegant event in the flowering garden at the lovely home of Education Foundation vice president Joan Gustafson. Wearing their good-looking high tea outfits, co-presidents Norma Grady and Betty Thompson greeted new and prospective members.
