South Fayette officials are moving forward with plans to convert the former Star City Cinema into what they hope will be the hub of civic life in the township.
The approximately 80,000-square foot building at 100 Hickory Grade Road has been vacant since 2008. Township officials bought it from Shelby Corp. for $5 million in 2009 with plans to turn it into the South Fayette Township Civic Center for municipal administration, with a police department, senior citizens' center, library and community center. Officials hope to move into the building in early 2013.
