The state of Colorado has ordered licensed professional counselor Edwin Shockney to stop offering psychotherapy. Shockney is under investigation by the state for allegedly using fraudulent degrees to qualify as a licensed professional counselor.
Bob Schacht, a two-year volunteer at Hubbard Hospice House, happens to be a licensed professional counselor, but he said his background is unusual among HospiceCare volunteers. They come from all walks of life and professions, just like the patients and families they serve. Most volunteers share a desire to help or to give back to a program that touched them or a loved one. Schacht had no personal experience with hospice, but decided to volunteer after surviving a serious health threat four years ago.
