BLOOMINGTON - A top Central Illinois Regional Airport official said Tuesday the Bloomington City Council defied the wishes of CIRA leaders when it denied a liquor license for the airport's first food vendor past security. The council Monday voted 7-1 against issuing a liquor license to Tailwind Bar & Grill, overturning a supporting recommendation from the city's Liquor Commission. Several aldermen questioned the need for a second liquor license at the airport, which is also home to The Hangar Food and Spirits before security.
The following Dubuque businesses have agreed to settlements regarding alcohol-compliance offenses: * Panchero's Mexican Grill, 4840 Asbury Road, 14-day liquor license suspension for first-offense selling alcohol to a minor on March 10. The suspension runs from Sunday, Sept. 11, through Saturday, Sept. 24.
BLOOMINGTON - Two Bloomington liquor commissioners questioned the need for a second license at the Central Illinois Regional Airport as controversy continues over the airport's plan to host a second restaurant. The commission voted 4-2 to recommend a restaurant license for Tailwind Bar and Grill during its meeting Tuesday. The license will go to the City Council Dec. 12 for a vote.
The owners of the Skybox Bar and Grill have been granted a city amusement license that will enable the embattled business to offer live entertainment. The City Council voted to grant the license after a public hearing Monday, at which co-owner Allen Moore described his plans to host comedy shows and live music.
St. Peters resident Brian Hodak feels he's paid a high price for free speech. Hodak, described by a federal judge as a "vocal critic" of St. Peters government official, actively expressed his displeasure with government actions through letters to the editor to the St. Charles County media. As a result, the city revoked the liquor license issued to his wife, Karla Hodak, for C. Blake's Bar & Grill, he claims in a federal lawsuit.
