Only a week remains before an old saloon player sits down at a piano with an unbelievable history, one that has been totally rebuilt by a master craftsman to give 200 lucky Columbians a night of music never to be duplicated or forgotten. Bob Milne, called by James Bullington of the Library of Congress "a national treasure," will entertain for two hours on the huge John W. "Blind" Boone grand piano, a national treasure returned to its greatness of 115 years ago by Columbia's Frank Hennessy, a treasure in the world of pianos.
A Library of Congress traveling exhibit with facsimiles of the Declaration of Independence and other documents important to the nation's history will visit Uniontown on Aug 5 and 6. The "Gateway to Knowledge" exhibition, housed in a 90-foot-long trailer that will be stationed in the Uniontown Public Library parking lot, is free to the public, library director Lynne Tharan said on Friday. The hours will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
