The North Hills company where Rhonda Morelli designs fire sprinkler systems has installed them in the Bakery Square complex in East Liberty, the new entertainment complex on the North Shore and scores of nursing homes, schools and other commercial buildings.
But when a new statewide building code kicks in Jan. 1 that requires new single-family homes and duplexes to have automatic fire sprinkler systems, Morelli's company, Preferred Fire Protection Inc. in Ross, won't be able to use its regular sprinkler installers for homes in Allegheny County.
