Not much changed in Putnam County Tuesday, as three school board incumbents won re-election and the school excess levy passed with 65 percent of the vote.
Craig Spicer, William "Butch" Legg and Debbie Phillips all won re- election, defeating Kathie Hess Crouse, Jack Gordon, Ashley Stinnett and David Thompson.

NORTHVALE -- The borough will be the only Bergen County municipality to ask voters' permission to exceed the 2 percent tax levy cap at the April 27 school board election, according to the County Clerk's Office.
Fourteen towns statewide plan to do the same, Lisa Ryan, a spokeswoman for the Department of Community Affairs, said Monday.

NORMAL - When McLean County Unit 5 school board set its 2011-12 levy, business manager Erik Bush said he'd never talked more about taxes and the levy during his 15 years in public finance.
One of the taxpayer conversations lasted 45 minutes, he said. But despite the early interest, no one spoke Wednesday at a required hearing on the levy.

Residents of the Kettering City School District can expect a fiveyear, 0.6-mill permanent improvement tax levy renewal issue on the November ballot.
