Being happily married for over 25 years, I say "hooray" for Connecticut's joining six other countries that allow any couple to commit their love into marriage, even those who find themselves born homosexuals. The state's certification and recognition of marriage must be considered an equal right, even if a religious group chooses to exclude same-gender couples from their religious rites. Although we cannot force religions to separate church from hate, the Constitution does call for the separation of church and state. Therefore, the state cannot proscribe marriage to a few and allow it only as defined by certain religions. That is now seen as bigotry and laws must protect against such prejudice.
