Over the course of her life, she worked as a waitress, owner and operator of "Vickie's Confectionary" in the late 1940s, driver for City Cab Co. (#9), real estate investor and Vickie's Horton Inn. She was first lady of St. Phillip's Spiritual Cathedral, WGPR radio personality, "The Moments of Sunshine," and "Chat Every Sundown" evangelist.
Beginning in the 1970s, she began the corporate phase of her life, becoming stockholder, owner and operator of City Cab #508; vice president of Wheel Services; and founding member of City Wide Transportation, where she rose in the ranks from garage manager to the first female president.

Henry Monroe Johnson died June 17, 2004, 6:45 p.m. at the age of 86. Henry was born March 10, 1918, of Luther and Lessie Johnson and was one of 12 brothers and sisters who all have preceded his death. He was a devout member of First Baptist Church and was a U.S. Army World War II veteran.
Henry lived and grew up in Benson, N.C., and moved to Chesapeake in 1946 where Henry was employed at Nu Car Carriers delivering Fords from the Norfolk plant to dealerships all up and down the eastern seaboard.

GEORGETOWN, Ga. - As hard as it was to spend 35 years in prison for stealing a black-and-white television, Junior Allen has found freedom frustrating, too.
Despite extensive prison records in North Carolina, where he has spent more than half his life as inmate No. 0004604, Allen has been unable to establish his identity in rural Georgia, where he now lives with his sister, or in Alabama, where he was born 65 years ago to sharecropper parents.
