IOWA CITY, Iowa - A once-prominent University of Iowa researcher gave up his medical license and agreed to pay a $10,000 fine after regulators charged him with viewing child pornography and having an affair with a subordinate, officials said Friday. An Iowa Board of Medicine complaint made public Friday charged Gary Hunninghake with viewing pictures of nude children and other inappropriate sexual material on the Internet in the workplace, having an inappropriate sexual relationship with a female subordinate and inappropriately accessing the woman's medical records without her knowledge. Hunninghake also "violated appropriate professional boundaries" with another female staff member in 1992 and improperly prescribed medications to himself, including anabolic steroids, the complaint said.

IOWA CITY - A judge on Friday sentenced a once-promising Iowa football player to one week in jail for a 2007 assault on a female student-athlete, saying he should be ashamed of his actions in a case that caused a university-wide scandal.
