The legal history of Western New York is just as rich and exciting as that of the rest of the state, according to Michael B. Powers, a litigator with Phillips Lytle LLP in Buffalo.
Powers has been working as a trustee for The Historical Society of the Courts of New York, a relatively new organization that is working hard to collect and assemble the history of the state's court system. The society is the brainchild of Chief Judge Judith S. Kaye and Court of Appeals Justice Albert Rosenblatt, who saw a need to compile the state's legal history for the benefit of future generations.
