CHESAPEAKE - transitioned from this worldly life we know into the everlasting glory in God's kingdom Dec. 30, 2007, while living in a Chesapeake nursing accommodation. She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Sept. 25, 1923. Anita was very proud of her American Indian heritage, Ne Shiw Shkak of Long Island, N.Y. Anita was a very accomplished artist, producing many oil and water color canvasses. She was widowed by her beloved husband, Dick Carr, four years ago.
Anita's first marriage produced two children, Joseph Roberts Jr. and Sharon Lee Roberts. Her son, Joseph Jr. passed away two years ago. Anita leaves a daughter, Sharon; granddaughter, Toya Roberts; and great-grandson, Jackson Davis.

Born in Greensboro, N.C., to the late Elizabeth and Early Apple, she was the widow of Everett Brower Roberts. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Edward Apple of Burlington, N.C. She was a member of Ocean View Baptist Church.

The two had worked together in the early 1980s when Roberts was a young attorney in the Department of Justice and Lee was the U.S. solicitor general.
