Maggie Dunbar recorded 12 assists and seven kills as University High School's volleyball team extended its Corn Belt Conference winning streak to 62 with a 25-13, 25-9 win over Mahomet-Seymour on Tuesday at Normal. Bailey Nichol added 11 digs and Alexis Lee chipped in six kills for the Pioneers (11-1, 5-0). Mahomet-Seymour (12-5, 4-1) was led by Emma Cabutti's three kills and three service points. Mason Moore had five assists and Abbie Magrini five digs.
When Hart set the Foothill League record Sept. 14 at Vista Valencia Golf Course, Brenna Carlson was happy to be part of the achievement, but knew her performance wasn't anything to remember. BALTIMORE - The Arbutus Big Red defense slammed the door on the Virginia Hornets win streak with a late third quarter interception returned for a touchdown, en route to an 18-12 victory over the visiting Hornets, in a non-league match-up, on a drizzly Saturday night. Due to slippery conditions, the Hornets offense relied heavily on its ground attack, by utilizing its leading rusher, Tunde Ogun (Christopher Newport), who had a spectacular night with 154 rushing yards and one touchdown. Ogun immediately made his presence known with a rapid 87- yard touchdown strike in the first play of the game. WR Rodney Nichols (Meadowbrook) gave the Hornets' their second explosive touchdown with an 85-yard punt return early in the third quarter that temporarily evened the score at 12-all.
