In 2006, Cornell University launched what proved to be a popular doctorate program in law, psychology and human development. Now, applications for a new six-year degree program combining a doctorate in developmental psychology with a J.D. degree are being accepted for the fall 2012 term.

BOONVILLE -- Eldon Bugg of Boonville will be in familiar surroundings tomorrow in Boone County Circuit Court. The 77-year- old retiree is one of the state's most prolific litigators acting as his own lawyer. He has no legal training, but Bugg has filed a prodigious number of lawsuits. He sued the city of Boonville in a case that delayed the construction of a Walmart for nearly a year. He sued an RV manufacturer, claiming the vehicle he bought had a defective motor. He even has sued a Cass County lawyer for defamation, alleging the man damaged his reputation by reporting Bugg to the state for practicing law without a license.
Law degree offered challenge Besides their status as professions that require hard-to-obtain advanced degrees, veterinarians and attorneys have little in common.
While delivering the State of the Judiciary Address for the State of Georgia in 2008, said, "The judge often finds that the law is not always entirely clear. And 'truth' is often an elusive concept. Some cases over which we preside are magnets for the press and public. In extreme cases, a judge may be vilified or even threatened." As the first chief justice of Georgia, Sears must know that those words have a significant historical impact on her state and its history. As a holder of an LL.M degree, Sears is an internationally-recognized jurist in the study of law. Even though in most countries-including the United States-attorneys are not required to hold an LL.M degree as a prerequisite to practice law, there are lawyers, like Sears, who go the "extra mile...
