A landowner must demonstrate a disturbance in property, before a neighboring landowner can be held liable for damages because of withdrawal of lateral support, the Missouri Court of Appeals' Eastern District ruled. The Eastern District held that some damage or injury to the plaintiff's property must occur before the plaintiff may establish liability for damages for the withdrawal of lateral support, and, at least some physical change or disturbance in the property is necessary to establish such damage or injury. Such a physical change in property is a subsidence.
Walk, don't run" was the advice community leaders gave the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District in spending more than $151 million to prevent sewage from backing up into basements. The district wants to spend the money repairing leaky laterals on private property. According to the district, the water leaking from the laterals enters sewage pipes and adds to the volume of waste the district must process.

Hundreds of people, individuals and teams, participated in the fourth annual Bangor Walk to Defeat ALS on Aug. 27, in Bangor, reported Janice Von Brook, the Bangor Walk chairperson.
