Who can forget his masterpiece, Man in Polyester Suit (1980), for example, with its image of a semi-tumescent member sprouting, like desire itself, from sartorial banality? (Carnality seems to have been, for him, a perpetual affront to quotidian reality.) This was a photographer who could mine the latent sexual content of an orchid or even an eggplant, who photographed AWOL sailors as if they were bits of classical statuary, whose portraits of small children are imbued with the same naturalness, mystery, and innate grace as the trussed-up sexual encounters that seem to have sprung from some dark night of the imagination.

Campbell and Pfrenger examine Joseph Harris's Rewriting: How To Do Things with Texts. Harris emphasizes that writing becomes an act of "rewriting" when other person's words serve as the tools for the development of new writing and thinking. The Utah State University Press web site advertises that Harris's book presents no ambiguity about the text's genre or audience, stating flatly that Rewriting is a "textbook for writing students." But Harris himself seems ambivalent about declaring the book's mission. Here, Campbell and Pfrenger argue that Harris' plain speech approach allows him to propose a powerful approach to student writing without accounting for the conflict that such an approach would inevitably engender without faculty and programmatic support.

From the 1940s until the late 1960s, formalist criticism functioned to appropriate modernist art to the market interests and conventional sensibilities of the art world. By its judgments of taste, it certified the worthiness of art objects for markets, facilitating processes of the reception of artworks as commodities. Tekiner explains how the formalist art criticism associated with Clement Greenberg function symbiotically with art marketers to uphold conservative agendas and to mask the progressive content intended by many modern artists who construe their transcendental subjects as signifiers of freedom, and their art works as expressions of liberated imagination during the stultifying conformism of postwar North America.

The aim of the present work is to propose a scale to measure customer satisfaction with reference to product and integrated services, in a broader context than simply evaluating product performance, i.e., by measuring aspects involved in pre- and post-purchase stages. The proposed scale has three versions: for convenience, shopping, and specialty goods. The scale for shopping goods was also administered to a sample of buyers of a specific branded product (i.e., a pair of jeans) and evaluated for validity and reliability. Lastly, latent class models are estimated in order to verify if there exists a judgment of satisfaction in each phase of the consumption experience.
