A project to bring city water to 11 families in Coalburg near East Bank may be the last one Kanawha County officials can tackle for a while.
Kanawha County Commissioners Kent Carper, Dave Hardy and Hoppy Shores learned at a regular meeting Thursday that a $661,000 federal grant will pay for all but engineering work on the water project. Funding for the project came from a federal Abandoned Mine Lands grant after extensive work by county officials and West Virginia's congressional delegation in Washington.
